I was brought up in Beeston Hill. I remember after the war, we lived in a big house. And we had a settee in the cellar for when we had an air raid and the sirens went off.

I went to Beeston Hill school and back then it had only about 300 children in the school. As a child, I used to enjoy playing rounders, hide and seek, and would enjoy skipping too.
