#399 Ginny Photographic Images

She IS beautiful. So much better in real life.

Ginny

But who is this?

Round, Rotund, barrel like

Small and podgy, plumptious even..

And where am I?

I can’t see the swan like neck, the slender curve of back, nor shapely collar bone I felt sure I once portrayed

Ah… Look! There …those skinny ankles. Yes that’s me …Phew!

I exist still, lost within ever expanding annular rings

But wait …those saggy jowels and drooping lids….my face has slipped!

Outward signs of inner bemusement.

Must I really grow old?

Grace has the answer.

I am looking for her - have you seen her?

No? I am sure she’s here somewhere.

I’ll just wait then…until she steps out.

She IS beautiful.

So much better in real life.

You’ll see what I mean, the photos just don’t do her justice.

The beauty of being in a company of older performers is the kaleidoscopic range of real-life experiences that they bring to the table. These experiences cover everything from the vivid and strange world of childhood, to the unexpected late awakenings of old age. Take our newest batch of anecdotes, for example. These new stories are delightfully diverse: from the earthly, sensual joy of baking bread, to the cosmic dreams of outer space; from an unnerving encounter with a poltergeist, to the risqué glories of adult pleasure products and burlesque. Running as a rich theme throughout, is the possibility of love, and the simple wonder of human connection. As one writer tells us, in her story of funeral rites and flirting, “Amidst death, life goes on”, and indeed it does, delightfully so.
