My name is Asha. I came to Leeds in 1965. I was 12 years old. I came with my mother and 4 siblings. My Dad was in London. At first we had no idea where to go, who to ask for further education. I was a machinist. I married at 19. My husband had a heart attack about 20 years ago. I look after him and my mother in law. When I retired I came to this group. I teach sewing. I never used to go out. Never had the chance to enjoy myself, go anywhere. Just family weddings.
