#729 Ivan Easton A Lost Year of Education

I can remember when I were a young baby, that’s two year old, sat in a pram looking out. I can remember my dad taking me for walks. Then baby’s class at primary school. Didn’t get no certificates - you went from year one to year six and then you were out. I left at 15. I had planned to leave at 14 but a fortnight before I was due to leave the government moved the leaving age to 15. So there was no class for us, cos there was no curriculum for us. The government had changed it but not made provision for our year.

So that final year we sat in the hallway making paper aeroplanes. We had no lessons. For a whole year.
