#977 Robin Forsyth Yorkshire Fate

It's about how I came to be in Yorkshire, because I'm not from around these parts, strange to say.

I'm a Scot - and in 1977, in my early twenties, I was driving from Edinburgh to London to take up a new job, and I stopped off to see some friends in Ilkley.  And I'm still here!

Wonderfully I met someone, wouldn’t you know, and discovered Yorkshire beer. Basically, it was as simple as that.  Goose Eye Bitter and Taylor's Landlord, because Scottish beer is rubbish!  And I really like Yorkshire beer - and I like Yorkshire women I discovered.

My kids are born and bred in Yorkshire, though neither of them live in Leeds anymore.  But halfway between London and Scotland, which were my original spiritual homes, Yorkshire was perfect for the two.  And I still go and visit Scotland a lot and pop down to London.
