The mill owner used to walk around each year and that were it for year. The mill ain’t a work place, it’s like a family really, you all work together. I became a manager in the end. I could have put a white coat or a coat but I kept overalls on so that I was still one of the family. I never had no problems. I take them as people and we all work together.
But then the mill owner died. No one wanted the business so I was out of work for a bit then. I was contacted by the solicitors - he’d left me a thousand pounds in his will.
