#881 Leslie A Natter With the Queen

Leslie

I was a plumbing and heating engineer in Yeadon.

All of a sudden, Jimmy Firth came back from Australia and set me on at Silver Cross and I was there from my early 20’s until I retired. I kept the pram factory warm for the workers, looking after the boiler. One day, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh came to visit the factory. They had a silver cross pram which came back to Guiseley and was shown off at the factory as “The royal pram”. Later, when I was in my 50’s, I was invited with my wife Stella to Buckingham Palace and was lucky enough to have a natter with the Queen. We talked about her visit to Guiseley Silver Cross pram factory and she actually remembered the visit. She had a lot bigger house than we had you know!
