#876 Joyce Taylor A Memorable 90th Birthday

Joyce Taylor

Translation

Earlier in the year I celebrated my 90th birthday with a party of some 35 guests in a church hall in Leeds. I had a wonderful lady who organised a ‘working party’ to decorate the hall with buntings, pictures etc. Fantastic! I had ordered the caterers. The “working party’ knew their jobs and whatever they had to do it was done in reverse at the end.

The tables were set in an organised style and all set up with table linen, napkins and raffle tickets awaiting the caterers arrival with all the tasty food and cakes. We drew the raffle and a lottery from my drawers which were hilarious and made by my wonderful lady organiser.

We played a few games and we all sang “Bring me Sunshine”. I was supposed to sing a duet with my male friend. Sadly, he had COVID and couldn’t come to the party. So, pictures were taken of my daughter and I “standing in”.

A birthday cake was placed on a side table with a knife. My pic was taken making the first cut. And a friend and I did a special rendering of “I’m getting married in the morning” - me as bride, he as groom. That was a hoot.

All in all, it was a truly magical day and sad to say goodbye and thanks for coming and joining in the fun.
