My grandad moved to Leeds from County Mayo in 1920. He met and married a Leeds girl. He worked as a labourer, as did my father. They lived with us when they got old.

I remember grandma saying to grandad ‘I suppose you’re going to the pub to drink beer.’

He said ‘well I wouldn't be going there to drink water, would I?’

That story always makes me laugh.
