My husband passed away 18 months ago with cancer. He had a catheter in and we had to do a lot for him. He had chemo and then COVID happened and we couldn’t have any more treatment and by the time he got back to hospital it had spread.

I was home on my own, maybe for six months, not going out, didn’t want to meet people and then I got a leaflet through the door for this place. (Belle Isle Elderly Action).

And someone suggested I come as a volunteer, so that’s what I did because I was getting lower and lower. The difference now is night and day. I volunteer here, come every week, I’ve got to know everyone, I make them all laugh.
