I was Jean Eason when this happened and I was about 10 years old. We had a shelter in the garden, an Anderson shelter.

We went down to the shelter and heard this plane come across and all of a sudden we heard this whizzing noise. I thought it was coming down on us but luckily it went on the field further back which was full of allotments.

Next morning we went to see the crater and there was this man who was fuming because it had blown all his shallots up.

It was all very scary. Very scary.
