no one ever said a bad word right up to the end of his life.
Pamela Young
My father was the eldest of 4 children, from humble beginnings as his parent fled from Poland to settle and work in Leeds.
Dad studied hard to get qualifications to get a place at Leeds University and became a doctor. He had ambitions to become a pathologist, but Mum did not want this as it meant moving away from Leeds, her home town. He became a GP - as did many of his contemporaries because getting hospital positions was impossible then.
I remember his first surgery at Quarry Hill near the flats, then Burmantofts Health Centre and finally Slaid Hill. The patients adored Dad - no one ever said a bad word right up to the end of his life. He loved doing Crosswords and Sudukos, he was able to do this until last Tuesday when he was in St James.
Dad was an intelligent, quiet, caring, loving gentleman with an amazing memory. He adored extended family. Even Betty the grand dog made a beeline for his lap as Dad was calm and collected and she knew she could relax there.
Life became more difficult as he grew older loosing dear close friends - 100 is a fantastic age. He was still driving his car at 98 years, next day a mobility scooter when he went into a ‘care’ home.
We all knew how hard and intolerable the last 2 and a half years were for you, and the last 2 months not being able to see you.
We miss you so much and want to remember the special wonderful memorable times together.
