I was brought up in a military family and then when I married, my husband was in the army, so we lived in the married quarters. My two sisters also married soldiers, so many of us were brought up like that. It was very strict in the married quarters at that time. It was hard on the men - if your children played and broke or damaged anything they had to pay for it from their own wages, if they damaged any facilities the men had to pay that.

It was good there, we had gymnastics. I loved sports, so I enjoyed that.
