We had a clothing factory. My father was from Poland and he wanted his own factory so he worked for it. We made suits, jackets, trousers. Everything. The factory was called Gibbs and Company. My father would not employ Burton’s machinists because they worked on a conveyor belt. One girl would sew one part of the sleeve up and then pass it on to the next girl down the line. So they never finished anything and they only knew how to sew that one part.
