#1001 Wilberta How VIM Got Its Name

Wilberta

This is a photograph of my auntie Vera‘s wedding. She made her wedding dress out of net curtains.

This marriage took place on Christmas Day in 1936. He’s my uncle George, he committed suicide. He took the canary out of the kitchen and then gassed himself with the oven.

My mum, my auntie Vera and auntie Ida worked at Joseph Watson a soap company and the boss said if anyone can come up with a good name for this new product there will be a bonus in it for you.

So my auntie Vera suggested V.I.M which spells Vim. They passed it and she got two and six for it. Vera had a good idea to combine the initials of herself and her two sisters which spelt vim. Two and six was a lot of money back then.
